Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the plight of the B-Movie
I think its dangerous to assume that just because something isn’t ‘high art’ that it isn’t worthy of the adoration of the academy. To write a movie (or movies) off because of their lack of weight, indulgence or historical accuracy is unfair. If the academy where only to acclaim movies with some kind of social/historical context, relevance or substance then its going to be a very dull enterprise moving forward. Finally, is Zero Dark Thirty really a B-movie? i don’t think so….
